At Navigators, we are committed to recruiting the best, most suitable mentors to join our team. We have developed a detailed process to ensure recruitment of compassionate and empathetic staff, who then undergo our specialist Navigator training programme. These carefully chosen mentors and the one to one relationship that develops between the mentor and student is fundamental to the success of our specialist approach.

We start with the individual, finding the right mentor for each student. Mentors work collaboratively with students to explore what genuinely interests and excites them, recognising the best way to re-engage young people in learning is to understand what is meaningful to them so they can work out a path to success. Our bespoke education programmes are therefore adapted to meet the current specific needs of each individual student.

One-to-one mentoring creates a nurturing environment in which students feel valued, supported, and encouraged. The connection formed between the student and mentor is an important component of an effective support system for young individuals. It assists their learning, offers them a positive role model and tailors support to meet their individual needs. Through crucial time spent together, the mentor and student are able to build trust, which can facilitate discussions of any challenges the student may encounter. We move at a pace that is suitable for each child and we set achievable goals. The impact of this approach can be truly transformative for our students and we are trusted by local authorities, schools and parents alike.

“The mentors Navigators provide to support our learners have been fantastic in developing strong relationships with our pupils and their families and for many children this has resulted in our children and young people engaging positively in a more bespoke educational programme.” Aidan Maloney, Head Teacher, St John Vianney School, Stretford.

“It is fantastic to see our mentors at work and the support they give to our young people to help them achieve and fulfill their potential. Our young people have such a wide range of talents and abilities and I believe Navigators gives them the platform to make the most of these and realise the amazing things they are capable of.” Nick Turner, Teacher, Key Stage 4 Lead / Exams and Assessment Coordinator.

“My favourite part of the role is seeing the students succeed over time, watching them go back to school and make a life for themselves. A lot of the students have a lot of home difficulties or have been moved from location. It is nice to see them have the opportunity to have a second chance in life and fulfill their aspirations. It is also amazing to see each person in Navigators supporting their students and the progression they make; everyone has an important role in the company” Jade Higson, Navigators Learning Support Mentor and Team Leader.
