Recording at Shawe Studios

Our students regularly participate in sessions at Shawe Studios in Old Trafford. Shawe Studios is a company which houses and perfects the creation of various forms of multimedia, run by Jermaine Jones. They have been working with young people for a year now, becoming an integral component of our work here at Navigators. 

This fantastic resource offers our students exposure to creative media and participation in activities such as podcasting, songwriting, record songs, instrumental learning, photography, and more. Creative and digital media has become a significant part of the lives of young individuals today and we prioritise engaging our students through their interests. 

Exploring media as such inspires children and young people to think flexibly and creatively. By stimulating students through different media, they can explore multi-sensory experiences and have the opportunity to progress and produce a finished product. Students can learn individuality through self-exploration in the varied learning experience and Jermaine teaches the importance of self- expression in the welcoming environment. Students can apply these invaluable lessons to their lives outside of Navigators. 

Our mentors are on hand to assist or help spark some inspiration amongst the students, often getting stuck in and joining in with the activities. Due to high engagement in a task suited to the student, mentors are able to provide support and guidance. 

All sessions are part of the additional learning opportunities framework, and we can use the accredited outcomes to earn additional qualifications, including ASDAN and AQA awards, alongside enhancing proficiency in English and mathematics.
